Night Kills the Day

Forming the core of New York City's Night Kills the Day, lifelong friends Luke Brian (vocals) and Timothy Falzone (bassist/keyboardist) grew up together in a small Long Island fisherman's town. They somewhat drifted apart over the years, and Brian spent the better part of a decade "chasing demons" before he reconnected with his multi-instrumentalist friend following the September 11th terrorist attacks, which claimed the life of one of Falzone's cousins. Inspired by a multitude of bands like Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, the Cure, and Deftones, the two found solace from their crazy lives in music and soon began writing and playing together. They eventually christened themselves Night Kills the Day, a fitting name for the band's dark and moody yet melodic and largely danceable sound. Guitarist Izzy Lugo caught one of the group's early shows, and after later impressing Falzone with a quick warm-up in a Manhattan guitar shop, jumped into the lineup. Together, the three recorded their debut album, The Study of Man... and the Developed Shadow, with co-producer Joe Blaney, whose previous credits included work with the Clash, the Ramones, Prince, and Keith Richards. A permanent drummer was found following the album's completion in Roger Benton, and The Study of Man surfaced on Score Records in the spring of 2007. Brian's unwavering vocals earned the group comparisons to peers Interpol from a variety of critics as Night Kills the Day took their show on the road.
