Biography

RSS
Born circa 1920 near Como, MS, Napoleon Strickland was described as the "fife-blowingest man in the state of Mississippi." He was well-known in the South for playing harmonica, guitar, and diddley-bow, a kind of poor man's guitar that had only one string and was used in early American blues. Strickland was highly regarded around Como for his versatility and dedication to early blues that was always evident in his playing. In the '80s, Strickland was committed to a nursing home after a serious car accident and he died on July 22, 2001. ~ Nate Cavalieri, All Music Guide
