The five Ypsilanti, MI, friends who formed the Monkey Power Trio are not normally musicians, but they have made a pact to play together once a year, every year. Editing these annual jam sessions to feature the best bits, the band puts out a release every year and promises to do so until death whittles the group down to a solo project. The band features Mark Maynard (vocals), Dan "Deadhand" Richardson (guitar), Number 4 (guitar, bass, synth), Matt Krizowsky (recorders, crumhorns), and Dave Miller (drums). On schedule since 1995, the Monkey Power Trio welcomed a new audience from England when influential BBC One DJ John Peel played their 1998 release in August of 2003. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
