A DJ on AOL Radio's "DJ Sets Station" since June 2007, Moncef Belyamani was a presence in the club scene ever since his days at the University of Virginia, from which he graduated in 1997. Raised in Morocco to music-loving parents, it was at college that Belyamani (who was classically trained on piano) moved from the straight-up dance music he heard coming over from radio stations in Spain to the more soulful jazz-house he made his name on. After meeting 95 North at a club in Washington, D.C., and giving them a mixtape of his, Belyamani was able to start a weekly DJ residency in the city, which led into long-term gigs. Belyamani has also produced his own tracks with Nicolas Laget (under the name Nicolicious), remixed others, and performed countless live sets around the world. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
