Biography

Singer and songwriter Moe Loughran is a Cincinnati, OH, native who took wing and landed in Nashville. The Tennessee city's heartbeat might be country, but Loughran brought pop/rock rhythm with her. She started her journey into the world of music as somewhat of a piano prodigy when she was only four years old. At seven, she began to explore her skills at songwriting. Three years later, she lost interest in the piano and never found her way back, but there was other ways of releasing her musical energy.

While in high school, Loughran expanded her musical talents by training in traditional/classical opera. Once she moved to Nashville, she attended and graduated from Belmont University where she studied blues-rock. In 1998, she recorded her debut offering, an EP titled Hey Michael. It was followed the next year by a full-length album, Damn Depressing Love Songs, both were independently released. For early 2001, she saw the completion of a third work, The Tulip Tree. Some of the enjoyable pop/rock tunes fans can sample from Loughran's first few works are "Shame," "Ashes of Eden," "Crumble," "Red Light," and "Pass Right By."

Loughran has performed at clubs and festivals throughout much of the United States, including the 1999 Woodstock event. During her career, she has opened for a long list of artists, like K's Choice, Chicago, James Taylor, Ashley Cleveland, Hall & Oats, and many others. She has a wonderful group of male musicians pulling duty on stage with her. Drummer Ray Gomez joined the band in 2000; other members have been around longer, like guitarists Stan Cody and John Purdy, and bassist Keith Kenyon. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
