Biography

MJ is a reggaetón vocalist from San Juan, Puerto Rico, who skyrocketed to success with the release of his debut full-length album, Mi Sentimiento (2008), and its smash hit lead single, "He Venido." Born José A. Matos Negrón, MJ began his career as an affiliate of DJ Negro and first established himself in the reggaetón mainstream with "Dile," a song compiled on the Luny Tunes mixtape album Los Benjamins: La Continuacion (2007). MJ was subsequently offered a recording contract with the Universal Latino subsidiary label Machete Music and made his full-length album debut with Mi Sentimiento (2008). The album's lead single, "He Venido, " was a smash hit, topping the Billboard Latin Tropical Airplay chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
