Mercyland is the Athens, Georgia band fronted by David Barbe before he was picked up by Bob Mould to form part of the power trio Sugar. Not surprisingly, the band sounds like Husker Du without Bob Mould and Grant Hart's songwriting chops. Other members included drummer Joel Suttles and guitarist Andrew Donaldson, and briefly drummer Harry Joiner and guitarist Mark Craig. ~ Aaron Schatz, All Music Guide
