Not surprisingly, a band named after a large body of water -- Married to the Sea -- formed in the world-famous port city of Liverpool, England, a town once known as the maritime entry into the heart of industrial Britain. The band first came to be in 2006, and specialized in a mélange of frenetic pop, indie rock, and more standard stuff like classic Motown and ABBA. Although the band formed in the United Kingdom, Married to the Sea actually played their first show stateside, and soon began promoting themselves through the age-old method of appearing on as many compilation collections as would have them. The bandmembers spent the better part of 2008 touring and performing, working to hone their sound in hopes of landing a more permanent home for their sound. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide
