Who was Little Gary Ferguson? No one seems terribly sure today, but in the mid-'60s he seems to have been someone's idea of a Nashville answer to "Little" Stevie Wonder and something of a precursor to Michael Jackson in his youngest performing guise. He came to the notice of DJ William "Hoss" Allen, who apparently thought enough of Ferguson at the age of seven to put him on his television soul showcase, The !!!! Beat, several times, singing and dancing, alongside the likes of Barbara Lynn and Freddie King. Outside of Allen's orbit, a concert poster exists as proof that Ferguson performed at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles in September of 1966, on the same bill with Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, the Count Five, and the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. So far as is known, little if anything has been seen or heard from him in music since he reached age eight. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
