Biography

Roots-rocker Lisa Hayes was born and raised in Portland, OR, returning home in 1994 after a brief move to Los Angeles to form her band the Violets. Their first album, Wild Place, appeared on the local Schizophonic label in 1995, selling over 5,000 copies at live shows; a tour of New York City followed, resulting in a record deal with the Atlantic subsidiary Straight Line. Lisa Hayes and the Violets' major-label debut, Sun, appeared in 1999. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
