Taking their name from the notorious pair of lions that killed and devoured over 140 railway workers near the Tsavo River in Eastern Africa, at the end of the 19th century, Lions of Tsavo is a modern metal trio comprised of vocalist/guitarist Ryan Chamberlain, bassist/vocalist Matt Walker, and drummer Josh Dawkins. Originally based in Columbus, OH, all three musicians knew each other from playing in local bands like Ambassador 990, Montreal Curse, and the Trem; then migrated to Austin, TX, circa 2003, and pooled their energies into Lions of Tsavo. Two years later, those efforts bore fruit via the impressive Tsuna Micron EP (produced by Billy Anderson), and, in 2008, the band's debut full-length, [FireLung], which further refined their simultaneously brutal and super technical style, reminiscent of bands like Mastodon, High on Fire and the Sword. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
