Power-pop singer/songwriter Kyle Vincent was born and raised in Berkeley, California, growing up on a steady diet of '70s-era radio faves like Elton John, the Bee Gees, the Raspberries and Seals & Crofts. After picking up the saxophone at age eight, as a teen he played bass in a local punk band; during the mid-1980s, Vincent relocated to Los Angeles and formed the pop group Candy, debuting in 1985 with the album Whatever Happened to Fun. A tour opening for Rick Springfield followed, but the band soon split; guitarist Gilby Clarke later joined Guns N' Roses. Vincent, meanwhile, signed to MCA as a solo act, recording his debut Trust in 1992; record company chaos prevented the album's release, however, and he eventually landed at the Hollywood label, issuing a self-titled LP in the spring of 1997. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
