Konceptual Dominance is a rap group comprised of Koncepts Unlimited and Kirby Dominant. Each from the region of Northern California the two aspiring artists first joined forces as members of Kemetic Suns. Along with Kilojoule and Hypnotic of the Auditrons, Konceptual Dominance initially surfaced in 1996 on a series of Fundamental cassette recordings marketed throughout the Bay Area and beyond. The duo quickly became known for providing sharp social commentary along with beats that in one way or another always knock. While Koncepts was attending NYU and Kirby was attending Howard University, they recorded their debut album titled Savage Intelligence in of all places, the Bronx. As the lead single Self-Titled, energized by the strength of a comical video, became somewhat of a hit on the underground circuit circa 1999, Konceptual Dominance bounced back and forth between Oakland and New York, and all stops in between, in an effort to promote their musical manifesto. Meanwhile each member worked on solo projects that ranged from performances with Ka Auditron Ba and Mystik Journeymen to collaborations with Moka Only and Hobo Junction. Konceptual Dominance resurfaced in 2003 with the release of a single titled Flawless Execution, soon to be followed by a sophomore album. ~ Robert Gabriel, All Music Guide
