Finnish techno producer Kim Rapatti released a wealth of his analog-style techno tracks under an array of pseudonyms on his Dum Records label beginning around 1993. Influenced by the classic, analog-based style of techno pioneered by Detroit producers like Juan Atkins and Derrick May, Rapatti's music is analogous with the cold, dark, alienating, and seemingly endless winters of Finland. He has recorded under such pseudonyms as Mars 31, Detroit Diesel, Melody Boy 2000, Mono Junk, and others. Many of his early, breakthrough recordings from 1993 and 1994 are compiled on the Dum Trax album (DUM-100), released in 1995. Rapatti continued producing throughout the decade and into the next, primarily for Dum but also for other labels such as the Detroit-area Interstellar Transmissions label in Ann Arbor, MI. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
