Biography

A singer and performer since the age of three, Karen Luschar specialized in standards and stage musicals. Over the years, Luschar has appeared in such works as My Fair Lady, Phantom of the Opera, and Cabaret. She also worked in a more commercial capacity -- literally -- recording tracks and songs for some of the world's leading companies, including Frito-Lay, Dr. Pepper, and J.C. Penney. Her work as a solo stage vocalist began with her show Singing for Victory -- Songs of WWII, in which she paid homage to those who were a part of or remembered all too well those days of conflict. In 2007, Luschar decided to put her talents to tape, and began work on a collection of songs that -- as a piece -- worked as a musical travelogue. The songs, mainly standards from the first half of the 20th century, were collected under the title Let's Get Away from It All, and were released shortly thereafter independently. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide
