Detroit-based R&B/contemporary jazz violinist, singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, actress, and model Karen Coleman appeared on numerous recordings, both regional and international. Proficient on both electric and acoustic violin, Coleman found success on her own with the singles "Let Me Blow Your Mind" and "Once You Know How," as well as with Los Angeles R&B outfit Zingara, who had a hit in 1980 with the song "Love's Calling," featuring James Ingram on lead vocals. Coleman also worked as concertmaster violinist for Nancy Wilson and Natalie Cole, as well as numerous contemporary gospel artists and appeared in private orchestras with Barry White, John Denver, Aretha Franklin, and others. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
