The Chicago-based, country-pop band Jump 'n the Saddle earned their footnote in the annals of pop music history when they scored a hit with "The Curley Shuffle." Led by vocalist Peter Quinn, the group was rounded out by guitarists T.C. Furlong and Barney Schwartz, saxophonist Tom "Shoes" Trinka, bassist Rich Gorley, and drummer Vincent Dee. It was Quinn who wrote the tongue-in-cheek tribute to the Three Stooges. The song became a local hit in 1983 and, by early 1984, "The Curley Shuffle" had been re-released by Atlantic Records and climbed to number 15 nationally. Staying true to the career arcs of most acts whose notoriety was due to a novelty, "The Curley Shuffle" was Jump 'n the Saddle's 15 minutes in the spotlight and they soon fell off the radar. The group was still performing locally nearly 20 years after their brush with fame, with Quinn also a member of Chicago blues band Skip Towne & the Greyhounds. ~ Tom Demalon, All Music Guide
