Julius Bragg is a modern rock outfit that plays emotional, driving rock reminiscent of the Goo Goo Dolls, the Wallflowers, Shawn Mullins and the Counting Crows. Three of the band's members - guitarist Robert Shirley, bassist Ty Anthony and guitarist Timothy James - met in 1997 at a party in Battle Creek, Michigan. After happening upon some musical equipment in a room upstairs, the new friends jammed well into the night and the group Low Frequency Sapphire was born. They released one album, No Reflections, under this moniker. Then, after parting ways with their drummer, the trio connected with Aaron Jerome. With a new drummer and new chemistry, the band changed its name to Julius Bragg. Julius Bragg released its first album, Where You Hide, in the spring of 2000. The band's sophomore record, Transceiver, packed with powerful vocals, jangling guitars and a touch of Tom Petty Americana, followed on Maniac Records in 2002. ~ Charles Spano, All Music Guide
