Biography

CCM singer-songwriter Jill Phillips was born and raised in Chesapeake, VA, and as a teen studied piano, guitar, flute and piccolo, penning her first original song while a freshman in high school. Upon graduating from Nashville's Belmont University in the spring of 1998, Phillips signed almost immediately to the Word label, releasing her self-titled debut album the following summer. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
