Denver, CO-based singer/songwriter Jason Vigil grew up in Berthoud, CO, where he attended the local high school and started his first band, Sandalwood, after rescuing his father's abandoned guitar from the basement and teaching himself to play it. He leads a band -- consisting of former Sandalwood member Cale Hand (drums), Justin Miller (keyboards), Paul Walker (lead guitar; joined December 2007), and Skinny (bass) -- that was named the best band in northern Colorado in December 2005 by Scene magazine. (Hand left in March 2007 and was replaced by drummer/percussionist Eric Garcia.) Vigil self-released his debut album, Heart Gone Sober, in October 2006. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
