Biography

Isobella began life as Akasha in March of 1998, recording and rehearsing in the warehouse district of Tampa, FL. Over the next three months, through friendly conversation and shared musical interest, Brad, Shane, Laura, and Heath pooled their considerable talents and love for the dream pop of bands like the Pale Saints, Slowdive, and the ever-present My Bloody Valentine. By October 1999, they had recorded an album's worth of tracks, and decided to make their first single "Yellow" available via download on www.mp3.com. Shortly after, drummer Heath decided to part ways with the group and concentrate on his other project, Versailles, and so the trio continued on -- they began using a drum machine, which they affectionately refer to as the "Heathotron" -- calling themselves by their new moniker. A full-length, called Akasha in honor of their first band name and because Heath makes an appearance, was jointly issued by Clairecords and Spacestation in June of 2000. ~ Bryan Thomaswww.mp3.com.
