Biography

In Pieces first started using the name Born to Resist in 1998, in Glastonbury, CT. Steve Elin (vocals), Ryan Horrigan (guitar), Scott (guitar), Steve (bass), and TJ (drums) embodied a band that, not long after forming, chose their musical ground to be on the sharpest scenarios of the hardcore style, still managing to keep a higher sense of melody. In February 2000, In Pieces suffered its first lineup change when Scott became the band's lead vocalist and Horrigan and Elin left, later being substituted by guitarists Val and Ryck. After securing a deal with Sike Records, the team issued their first single, "&Brick Wall Stare," still in 2000. The release obtained significant acclaim, not only in the U.S., but also in Europe and Japan. Their next move was to record a split-CD with Craig, titled How to Make a Human Heart, which helped them even more to become one of the major bands in their local music scene. Signing with Escape Artist Records in 2001, In Pieces then entered the studio to record their long-awaited debut album. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
