Hailing from Augusta, GA, alterna-popsters Impulse Ride consists of members Ruskin Yeargain (vocals, bass, guitar), Bill Irwin (guitar), and Jamie Jones (drums) -- the latter a replacement for original drummer Russell Jarrett. The group originally came together when Irwin advertised in a local paper for a bass player to join a cover band, which Yeargain answered. But instead of doing covers, the duo began penning originals, leading to local gigs and eventually resulting in opening for such acts as the Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind, Tonic, Eve 6, and Econoline Crush. The group has issued a pair of records thus far on the J-Bird label, 1998's Corn Dog Money and 2001's Residue. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
