Featuring members of the Deathray Davies, the Old 97's, Apples in Stereo, and the Paper Chase, the Texas-based supergroup I Love Math take their cues from country-rock, power pop, and the harmonies of the Everly Brothers. Members John Dufilho (vocals, guitar), Jason Garner (bass), Philip Peeples (drums), and Andy Lester (keyboards) launched the group in the early 2000s, taking time out of their respective bands to focus on the sparse and poppy songs that soon comprised I Love Math's self-titled debut. Although Dufilho later launched a solo career in 2005 and joined Apples in Stereo's lineup the following year -- all the while continuing to record and tour with his principal group, the Deathray Davies -- I Love Math still found time to work on a sophomore effort. Getting to the Point Is Beside It arrived in May 2008, and the band toured alongside the Old 97's that summer, with Philip Peeples serving as the drummer for both bands. ~ Andrew Leahey, All Music Guide
