Hush

Artist Info

Biography

As many have begun to discover, there is more to Detroit rap than Eminem, ICP, Esham, and Kid Rock. In fact, the city known to most as the birthplace of techno or as the home of Motown actually possesses a small but thriving rap scene driven by a small camp of skills-first rappers opposed to the sort of theatrics that propelled the four aforementioned Detroit rappers to popular success. Of these many underground talents, Hush certainly stands out as one of the most impressive. Influenced by the pioneering work of Big Daddy Kane and Ice-T in particular, Hush began to get involved in Detroit's embryonic rap scene in the mid-'90s when artists such as Slum Village, Paradime, Eminem, and his D12 crew struggled to assemble a crowd for their gigs at local venues. Now recognized as both a producer as well as a rapper, this Detroit native has made a name for himself first as part of the collective known as Da Ruckus before ultimately going solo. Bulletproof announced his solo arrival in 2005. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
