The country-flavored band Hurl Soul Bridge came together in the early ‘00s at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Forming the band were guitarist/vocalist Chris "Roadie" Rodahaffer, a Louisville, KY native; upstate New Yorker Kyle Lawrence on bass; and on drums, Rhode Island native Wes Medeiros. The three had extensive musical backgrounds ranging from pop to hard rock to hip-hop and dance hall, but Rodahaffer's growing interest in bluegrass music guided their musical direction. In contrast to the alt-country scene's growing pop instincts and interest in production experimentation, Hurl Soul Bridge's sound was slow and improvisational on its first album, 2003's Which Is Your Way?, drawing comparisons to Gram Parsons' early ‘70s work. ~ Joseph McCombs, All Music Guide
