Singer/guitarist Howard Livingston actually did what many nine-to-five workers dream of doing: he gave up the workaday world, moved to the Florida Keys, and became a musician. Livingston was born in Kentucky and raised in Marion, IN. He learned the guitar in his youth and played in a band as a teenager. But at 18 he moved to Chicago, studied engineering, and launched a business manufacturing parts for diesel engines; 22 years went by. By the early '90s, however, he found himself drawn more and more to the Florida Keys, and he eventually moved to Summerland Key, 24 miles north of Key West. There he began to perform, forming a backup band called Mile Marker 24 that consisted of Bobby Green (keyboards), Jason "North" Miller (guitar), Daniel "Danimal" Hiles (drums), George Schneller (bass), Hulber Gagliardini (trumpet), Les Dudley (saxophone), and Harry Schroeder (trombone). Livingston self-released his first album, Livin' on Key West Time in 2005, following it with Meet Me in the Keys (2006), and, on May 22, 2007, Blame It on the Margaritas. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
