British singer/songwriter Holly Rose started writing poetry at age seven, a skill that would serve her well in the years to come. By the time she had finished studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, a then 19-year-old Rose was singing with the South African band Semisane. Meanwhile, back in the U.K., her mother was busy sending some of her CDs to producer Jeff Calvert, who was immediately impressed by the young woman's voice and songwriting skill. When band and relationship troubles prompted Rose to return to her native country, she and Calvert began working together on new music. Rose's debut single, "I Don't Care," was released in March 2008; her debut album was scheduled for release on her record label, Whisky Records, later that same year. ~ Katherine Fulton, All Music Guide
