Biography

White Magic guitarist Sleepy Doug Shaw formed experimental/indie/Afro-pop outfit Highlife in the late 2000s. The London-born, New York City-based multi-instrumentalist recorded an EP with the help of likeminded members of Gang Gang Dance and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti as well as White Magic's Mira Billotte, who provided background vocals. Highlife supported Animal Collective on their 2008 U.K. tour, before releasing their debut on Shaw's own label, New High Records, in June 2009. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
