Greg Tamblyn

Artist Info

Biography

Kansas City-native and humorist Greg Tamblyn first began his study of music on the trumpet. In his early teens he switched over to the guitar since he enjoyed singing and that was a little hard to do while playing the trumpet. During his high school years he joined a local rock band and then in college decided to try a solo career. That seemed to fit, so solo it was. Tamblyn's music is a pleasing mixture of folk, pop, rock, jazz, and blues, that is at the same time emotionally uplifting, funny, and often filled with positive lyrics.

In 1992, Tamblyn released his debut solo album, The Shootout at the I'm OK, You're OK Corral. It was followed a short year later by an excellent sophomore offering, No Credentials Whatsoever. Some of his other releases are How Could Life Be Better Than This, Art From the Heart, and a double-CD recording, The Grand Design, that came out in 2001. Tunes that can be sampled on these mood-improving albums include numbers like "My Life Is a Beer Commercial," "Clyde, My Inner Guide," "I Have a Tendency for Codependency," "I Drink, Therefore I Am," and "You Can't Blame the Wreck on the Train." Even the titles are fun to read.

Tamblyn is a gifted songwriter as well as a musician. He has written songs for other artists, earned a number of awards for his music, and toured internationally, performing to delighted audiences at clubs, festivals, conferences, conventions, and even churches. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
