Biography

A distinctive fusion of old school rap, queercore, and theatrical new wave, the four-piece Gravy Train!!!! (one exclamation point for each member of the band, natch) began as the vision of singer/songwriter Chunx, whose lyrics about poorly endowed men and her appetites -- for food and otherwise -- provided the group's foundation. Keyboardist/dancer Funx helped set Chunx's vision to music, while dancers/singers Hunx and Drunx added visual flair as well as an appreciation of cute boys and booze. Their 2002 debut EP, Menz, introduced the band's one-of-a-kind sound; their first full-length, Hello Doctor, arrived a year later on Kill Rock Stars (who also reissued Menz in 2003). Drunx left the band, while guitarist Junx joined the fold. The following year, the vinyl-only EP Ghost Boobs and DVD Stame the Batch arrived; Are You Wigglin? was released in 2005. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
