The New York-based rock quartet God or Julie (a name inspired by a friend who always writes songs about God or about his wife Julie) was formed by brothers Jon Paul Johnson and Adam Johnson after they relocated from Denver, CO, and enlisted drummer Aaron Stern (formerly of Matchbook Romance) and guitarist Matt Hogan. Ranked the number-one unsigned band on Pure Volume in June 2006, they toured opening for Buckcherry and Everclear while their video for "Say Your Last Goodbye" was attracting 300,000 downloads on YouTube.com. Trashbox Records released their debut album, This Road Before, on February 19, 2008, as they were named band of the month by BMI and prepared to launch a national tour with Chevelle and Finger Eleven on March 1 in Indianapolis, IN. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
