Founding members Eglantine Gouzy and Frederic Landini had exchanged musical ideas formally and informally prior to their work in Get Back Guinozzi! -- Landini had even made an appearance on Gouzy's solo debut, Boamaster, released on Osaka Records in 2006. While Get Back Guinozzi! shared much of the fuzzy, electronic sensibilities of Gouzy's early work, the group would ultimately prove to be a far more energetic and fun-loving affair. Get Back Guinozzi!'s first tracks, which included a cover of the Clash's "Police and Thieves," gave a nod to acts like the Tom Tom Club and the B-52's, not to mention contemporary acts like Yelle and Marina & Soko. Formed in 2007 out of a long-distance collaboration between Landini and Gouzy (who at that point were living in Paris and London, respectively), Get Back Guinozzi! eventually expanded to include the likes of bassist Regis Laugier, drummer Luc Benito, and guitarist/keyboard player Fabrice Gisiano. Get Back Guinozzi!'s debut single, "Low Files Tropical" b/w "Police and Thieves," was released on Fat Cat Records in September 2009. Their debut full-length, Carpet Madness, followed one month later. ~ Margaret Reges, All Music Guide
