Biography

Grab
Melodic pop-punk band Furthest Drive Home were one of a number of groups to emerge from Surrey in southeast England during the early years of the 21st century, as the region became a hotbed for new talent. Furthest Drive Home were formed in 2003 by Joe Raggett on vocals, guitar, and keyboard; Tommy H on bass; and James Green on percussion. Furthest Drive Home briefly played as a trio, but after the bandmembers met guitarist Jim McCarthey, he was recruited into the group in 2004 and they've worked as a four-piece ever since. In 2005, Furthest Drive Home launched their first nationwide tour, placed high in a competition sponsored by the organizers of the Taste of Chaos touring festival, and appeared on a compilation disc from Drive-Thru Records. In mid-2006, Furthest Drive Home released their debut EP, Lost in Genre, and in early 2007 Hungry Kids Records signed the band to a recording contract. Furthest Drive Home's first release for their new label was a six-song EP, The Complete First Series, and since then they've toured with the likes of the Used, Rise Against, and Funeral for a Friend. The band made its American debut with a showcase at the 2008 South by Southwest Music Conference. ~ Mark Deming, All Music Guide
