Four Star Mary

Artist Info

Biography

Four Star Mary first got their big break by playing "Dingoes Ate My Baby" in Oz's fake band on the popular WB syndicate Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They aren't a real band on the show, of course, but outside TV teendom Four Star Mary is an honest, rollicking five-piece from Los Angeles.

Formed in 1997, the members of Four Star Mary come from all over the place. Frontman Tad is from Texas, guitarist Zu grew up in the San Fernando Valley, and bassist Steve hails from San Francisco. Pushing the logistical twists aside, the band came together because of a basic love of music, but their final form didn't mold until the latter part of the '90s. Dave assumed guitar duties after original member Falon left the band early on, and Chris stepped into percussion after founding drummer Buddy left the band to get married. Revived and relieved, the odds did not weigh in for Four Star Mary. The musical exposure attained through the Buffy stint led Four Star Mary to have their music featured on Party of Five and MTV's The Real World. Swarms of requests for the band's debut 1997 self-titled EP flooded their e-mail accounts. The EP has sold over 4,000 copies and the hype has led the band to make their music available via the Internet. Thrown to the Wolves was released two years later on MSG Records. ~ Stacia Proefrock, All Music Guide
