Just one of the acts making Cincinnati one of the seminal cities for underground rap, Five Deez formed around area producer/MC extraordinaire Fat Jon the Ample Soul Physician and MC/producer Pase Rock. The pair debuted with EPs in 1999 and 2000, then released their first full-length, Koolmotor, in 2001. Both are also heavily involved in the Cincinnati-based Wanna Battle crew, also including DJ Hi-Tek, Talib Kweli, Lone Catalysts, and Rubix. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
