Biography

Laburnum's Wes Grasty formed First Night on Earth in 2001 while searching for a new creative direction. Joining him were Stephen Yount (guitar), Chris London (bass), Tina Cargill (vocals/guitar), and Vance Carlisle (drums). Composing a lush dream pop/space rock mix to match the heaviness of Chapterhouse and Ride, First Night on Earth signed to Liquilab Records in their native North Carolina in summer 2001.
