Farquahar, an eclectic group of musicians, had been playing together in various forms for nearly a decade before recording their first album -- honing their skills on a number of other projects. Guitarist/singer Mark Stanley has been a studio guitarist for several major acts including Love and Rockets, Andy Partridge, and Clutch. Bassist Mark Smoot has toured with several bands and acted as a producer for bands including Rah Bras, Kepone, Chainsaw Jazz, Grouser, and Damn Near Red. Drummer Chris Gallo has recorded with Mao Tse Helen, Clockhammer, Malediction, and Jaws of Life. This diverse set of experiences has helped produce unique recordings. There are many bands that can be described as combining elements to '70s prog rock, pop-hardcore, and techno -- fewer can be described as doing so in one song. Farquhar accomplished this feat again and again on their debut self-titled album, released on Porcelain Productions in 1999. ~ Stacia Proefrock, All Music Guide
