Emetrex formed in January 2000 out of a Boston living room with Dave McGlynn, Rick Lescault, and Ben Hedlund playing around with various samples, drum loops, and guitar chords. Eventually accompanied by Mike Paulo, the quartet laid down a number of tracks of simple pop that was layered with noisy, psychedelic undertones comparable to Mercury Rev, Grandaddy, and Lescault's other band Wheat. After signing to Infur Records not too long after their formation, The Birds Your Brothers EP came out along with the singles The King of Animals and Staring at the Stone that same year. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
