Biography

RSS
Hip-hop producer and entrepreneur Donald "XL" Robertson was born and raised in New Orleans, home to Master P's No Limit, a label Robertson saw grow from infancy to infamy. He became an in-house producer for No Limit in 1999, and over the next two years appeared on gold- and platinum-selling albums from Master P, Silkk the Shocker, Snoop Dogg, and C-Murder. His career with the label was brought to a halt in 2001 when a drunk driver killed his 22-year-old sister Traci. XL left New Orleans for California and started anew, forming XL Productions and dedicating the company to his sister. Over the years he would compose and produce hits like "Nolia Clap" by Juvenile and "Dollar Day" by Mos Def along with the theme song to season one of the television show America's Top Model. In 2007 he introduced his new company, XL Global Media, with digitally distributed singles from Hip Hop Mimi and Action Figures. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
