The leader of New York's breakbeat movement under the banner of Liquid Sky Design (a combination record store, clothing imprint, show promoter and record label), Carlos Soul Slinger grew up in Brazil but was present in New York during the '70s disco movement and London for both the '80s acid house revolution and the drum'n'bass phenomenon of the '90s. After moving to New York permanently in the early '90s, he introduced jungle DJing stateside and formed the Liquid Sky record store and later, Jungle Sky Records, America's first drum'n'bass label. His debut album Don't Believe appeared on Jungle Sky US in late 1997. His mix CD, United DJs of America, Volume 14 was released in May of 2000. Several of his tracks have also appeared on the This Is Jungle Sky compilation series, and he co-runs two other labels, Tekhed and Home Entertainment. In 2001 Slinger contributed to the Mixer Rewind series. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
