Like The Darkness and Steel Panther, Diamondsnake pays a loving tribute to the bombast of ‘80s hair-metal. Phil Costello (comical frontman of Satanicide, Children of the Unicorn, and Bee Gees metal tribute band Tragedy) hooked up with Moby in the winter of 2010, and together, the absurd vocalist and the electronic music icon made plans to start a new project together. After recording a few dozen demos in Moby’s Manhattan studio, Diamondsnake was born. Costello’s bandmate in Valley Lodge, bassist Dave Hill, was invited to join the band, along with Sound of Urchin drummer Tomato. In April of 2010, the four recorded their debut album over the course of one day with engineer Scott Norton in Brooklyn’s Headgear Studios, with release plans for that summer. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
