Dee Lannon grew up in San Francisco, but her vocals have much more in common with the Nashville country and rock sound of the late '50s and early '60s. Forming various groups in her hometown, Lannon performed throughout the San Francisco bar circuit, including Slim's and the Paradise Lounge. In 1989, Lannon released "Hello Mr. Bottle" on a compilation album, Lazy Loud & Liquored Up. After moving to Los Angeles, the musician became a regular at the Blue Saloon and the Palomino for nearly three years. During this time she also performed with Maria McKee. Often compared to Brenda Lee and Wanda Jackson, Lannon became friends and neighbors with Rosie Flores and the duo toured and performed together. One of the tracks the two recorded, "$3.00 Left," was heard in the motion picture Deadfall. In 1994, a five-song vinyl EP, Honky Tonk Nighttime Gal, was released. In December 1996, Lannon toured Japan and also recorded her debut album. Town Casino featured her own songs as well as Nick Kane of the Mavericks. The album was on Country Standard Time's top picks of the year. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
