The promise shown when Deaf Dealer's early-'80s demo was embraced by the underground tape-trader network was never fulfilled by the Québec-based heavy metal band. Initially featuring the vocals of Andy LaRoche, the original band released only one tune, which was included on the multi-artist compilation Metal Massacre, Vol. 4 in 1983. Disbanding shortly after the album's release, the group reorganized with a new vocalist, Michael O'Flynn, two years later. This lineup fared no better. Although several false starts prevented Deaf Dealer's debut album, Keeper of the Flame, from being released until 1986, the album was met by an apathetic audience and quickly went out of print. The frustration continued to build, leading the band to disintegrate within a year. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
