The British percussionist David Adams seems able to handle just about any assignment, from the brooding introspection of Austrian Mike Mantler to the arm-waving, rip-roaring big-band kitsch of Andy Sheppard to a stage show based on the rock music of ABBA. One of Adams' earliest recordings was done at the late-'80s London concert appearances of eccentric jazz composer George Russell, who utilized Adams as part of an extended setup of percussionists. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
