Singer and organist Dave Howard put together his group in the early '80s in Toronto. The other members were guitarist Nick Smash, bassist Martin Heath, and drummer Pat Ahern. When Ahern left, T. Daniel Howard stepped in. At some points the only drummer in the group was a reliable drum machine. During the short life of the Dave Howard Singers, the foursome recorded the popular single "Rock On." The song's video landed on a few shows in the United Kingdom, but failed to make much of a wave in the pop/rock music world. There was also one album, Who Is She, released in 1985. The next year, two EPs were completed: Goodnight Karl Malden and a three-track self-titled offering. During that time, the group spent a lot of their time touring through countries like Russia and Europe, but any major success always seemed to stay a few steps ahead of the band. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
