Dark Captain Light Captain create textured, folk-inspired pop/rock that combines pastoral psychedelia with electronic elements. Hailing from East London, the band formed during the winter of 2006, when founders Dan Carney (guitar, vocals) and Neil Kleiner (electronics, vocals) launched a series of late-night recording sessions around Kleiner's laptop. After uploading the resulting songs onto MySpace, the two were asked to perform on Seven Sisters, the debut album by German artist Milenasong. Carney and Kleiner then returned to their own project, fleshing out their lineup with Giles Littleford (guitar, vocals), Chin Keeler (drums), Laura Copsey (brass, vocals), and Michael Cranny (bass, vocals). Crafting atmospheric music that evoked Elliott Smith, the Beta Band, and Stars of Track and Field in the same breath, Dark Captain Light Captain issued the Circles EP in August 2008 to preface their official debut, Miracle Kicker. ~ Andrew LeaheyMySpace, the two were asked to perform on Seven Sisters, the debut album by German artist Milenasong.
