Biography

RSS
New York City's Daniel Harnett possesses quite an impressive voice that is comparable to the late Jeff Buckley. Born and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Harnett's first love was acting, making his Broadway debut in I Remember Mama (starring Liv Ullman), and appearing in countless off-Broadway plays and independent films. In addition to his acting, Harnett has always pursued his dream of music -- he began to pen songs while in high school, and has since written over 500 compositions and played regularly at such N.Y.C. hotspots as Sin-e, the Den, Arlene Grocery, the Living Room, and Mercury Lounge (opening for the likes of Beth Orton, Stereolab, Jewel, and the aforementioned Buckley). Harnett has also had several songs featured in independent movies, and has thus far issued a 70-track lo-fi boxset of his backlog of tunes, entitled Dream Ode 500, and the 2001 release Loeing to Higher. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
