Initially formed in 2004 as "From Adam to Atom," Orlando's Crisis in Hollywood emerged two years later, with infectious, pop-oriented hooks over a rambunctious bed of pop-punk and melodic hardcore. The band consisted of ex-"From Adam to Atom" members Adrian Snyder (lead vocals/guitar) and Andy Wambach (drums), in addition to Logan Benton (bass/vocals) and Daniel Valery (vocals/guitar) from local skate-punk act the Staredown. A chance meeting at a show hooked Crisis in Hollywood up with Clearwater, FL-based Financial Records, and the group subsequently released its debut record, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, through the label in early 2008. By the time fall rolled around, the guys were already back in the studio recording their follow-up, this time with Bayside singer/guitarist Anthony Raneri in the producer's seat. The band then tried out new songs on early spring 2009 dates before their sophomore effort Safe and Sound -- anchored by the Fall Out Boy-indebted first single "Breakup/Breakdown" -- appeared on shelves in May. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide
