Colin Edwards was the frontman for the Los Angeles band called Bay of Pigs, then began recording and producing material under the name of Tack. He has also produced material for other artists such as the aggressive band Warrior's Path. A multi-instrumentalist with a sometimes startling baritone voice, Edwards should not be confused with several British musicians and the motorcycle racer that share his name. His Bay of Pigs project was influential in the cross-pollination of the L.A. punk and Latin music scenes, resulting in a climate where a punk band could claim Santana as an influence without getting laughed out of the bodega. The two albums he has created as Tack feature a strong mix of guitar playing from Edwards and two associates, Rick Cox and Chas Smith. I Killed This Bird for You, released right at the outset of 2003, featured some quite strong instrumental jamming and songs on the type of sordid subjects rocker's music specialize in. Fans of the earlier Edwards direction will be happy to hear the continuing Latin influence; the participants include drummer R.J. Herrera and the mixing skills of Frank Montoya. People named Victor should stay away from this record, however -- they might like the tack Tack takes on the track titled "Victor Is a Pussy." ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
